ships from around the world will dock around Baltimore’s waterfront
for this week-long international maritime extravaganza. Programs
include free tours of the tall ships, welcoming festivities, cultural
entertainment, parade of sail, fireworks, children’s education
program, captains’ ball, crab feast, and much more. OpSail
Baltimore 2000 is produced by Sail Baltimore, the city of Baltimore’s
official host committee for visiting ships, in partnership with
numerous area organizations.

Official Sponsor Opportunities
Presenting Sponsor - $200,000
The Presenting Sponsor will receive recognition as the featured sponsor of the entire
OpSail Baltimore 2000 event. There will be only one presenting sponsor. The event will be
known as "OpSail Baltimore 2000 presented by (Presenting Sponsor) Company"
through December 1, 2000. All mentions of the event will be tagged with the name or logo
of the Presenting Sponsor. The Presenting Sponsor will receive category exclusivity. This
sponsor will receive prominent recognition in all signage, written materials, official
program, merchandise and web site. A significant advertising component will be included in
the Presenting Sponsor package, including program ads, a special Baltimore Sun insert,
sponsor thank you ads, collateral materials, web site exposure and a Newspapers in
Education program. Numerous VIP and client entertainment opportunities are available to
the Presenting Sponsor, including receptions on board ships, tours, sponsor hospitality
yacht, ship ride-alongs, welcome reception, captain’s ball and crab feast. The
Presenting Sponsor will be highlighted at the public welcome ceremony and welcome
reception, as well as in the OpSail Baltimore 2000 children’s educational program

Admiral’s Sponsor - $75,000
This is a major sponsor level for the entire OpSail Baltimore 2000 event. Only two
Admiral’s Sponsorships will be sold. Benefits will include significant logo
recognition in event signage, written materials, and advertising. An advertising component
will be included in the Admiral Sponsor package, to include program ad space, collateral
materials, web site exposure, signage and sponsor thank you ads. Numerous VIP and client
entertainment opportunities are available, including receptions on board ships, tours,
sponsor hospitality yacht, ship ride-alongs, welcome reception, captain’s ball and
crab feast. The Admiral’s Sponsor will be included in the accompanying
children’s educational program materials. Employee benefits are also available,
including special tour times and volunteer opportunities.
Captain’s Sponsor - $25,000
The Captain’s Sponsor is a significant sponsorship level which will be tied to a
specific participating ship (Class A or foreign flagged vessels). There are currently six
Captain’s Sponsors available. More may be available as we receive commitments from
additional ships. The Captain’s Sponsors will receive recognition in collateral
materials, signage, and on the web. The Captain’s Sponsor will have opportunities for
VIP and client entertainment, special tours and employee benefits, especially as it
pertains to their particular ship.
Navigator’s Sponsor - $10,000
This is a supporting level of sponsorship with opportunity for exposure. An unlimited
number of Navigator’s Sponsorships are available. The Navigator’s Sponsor will
receive recognition in collateral materials, as well as web site exposure. The
Navigator’s Sponsor will also enjoy opportunities for VIP hospitality and
merchandise.
Millennium Sponsor - $2000
This is a level of sponsorship aimed at involving individuals and small businesses in
OpSail Baltimore 2000. Benefits mainly include hospitality events, along with some
recognition and merchandise.
Individual Event Sponsorship Opportunities:
In addition to the official sponsors of OpSail Baltimore 2000 as outlined above,
individual event sponsor opportunities are also available during the week-long event.
Captains’ Ball Sponsor - $50,000
This sponsor will be identified primarily with the OpSail Baltimore 2000 Captains’
Ball, a formal occasion celebrating the visiting ships and their captains to take place on
Saturday, June 24, 2000. All of the captains from the visiting tall ships and their guests
will be invited, as well as officers and members of the diplomatic community from
Washington, DC. The sponsor’s name will be featured prominently in all written
materials, invitations, advertising and signage pertaining to this event along with naming
rights within the title of the event. The Captain’s Ball Sponsor will receive 20
tickets to this event. An estimated 500 guests are expected to attend.
Crab Feast Sponsor - $50,000
This sponsor will be identified primarily with the OpSail Baltimore 2000 Millennium Crab
Feast, an informal occasion to take place on Sunday, June 25, 2000. The Captain, officers
and crew from each ship will be invited to join in this celebration of Maryland seafood.
This event will be billed as "The Crab Feast of the Millennium," with the
sponsor’s name included as appropriate in the title. The sponsor will be included in
all written materials, advertising and signage related to this event. The Crab Feast
Sponsor will receive 30 tickets to this event. Attendance is estimated at 2000.
